Update: Man allegedly involved in a fatal crash receives additional charge

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - A man allegedly involved in a fatal accident that left two people dead last month is facing an additional charge.

According to police, 20-year-old Jose Antonio Martinez-Sauceda was arrested and charged with accident involving death.

The incident happened back on October 11th at around 11:30 a.m. when officers were called out to an accident at the 4000 block of Santa Maria and Pace Street.

Authorities believe the driver of the Dodge Ram pick-up truck was traveling west on Pace Street when he disregarded a stop sign and collided into a Kia Sol that was traveling north on Santa Maria.

Both Martinez-Sauceda and Jose Angel Cisneros allegedly got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

The driver of the Kia and the passenger were taken the hospital and later died as a result of their injuries.

Martinez-Sauceda was taken to the Webb County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

A man is arrested in connection with the accident that happened last week on Santa Maria and Pace Street that claimed the lives of two people.

According to the Laredo Police Department, 22-year-old Jose Angel Cisneros was arrested and charged with two counts of accident involving serious bodily injury and one count of accident involving death.

Cisneros is accused of being involved in the accident that happened last Thursday when a truck hit a Kia Soul and killed 25-year-old Ana Lee Soto and critically injured 58-year-old Lydia Garcia Velarde, who later passed away from her injuries.

Police are still investigating the accident.

Two women were traveling south on Santa Maria when a truck heading west struck an SUV on the passenger's side.

According to an eyewitness, the driver of a black truck struck the vehicle and immediately fled the scene. The truck was carrying a total of five passengers, one of which was riding in the bed of the truck.

It is believed the people inside the vehicle were fleeing a separate crime and may have been carrying undocumented immigrants.

A good Samaritan stopped to render aid to the victims inside the gray SUV. He found the passenger unconscious and the driver of the vehicle with minor injuries.

The 25-year-old passenger was transported to the hospital in critical condition and lost her life due to the severity of her injuries.

The person riding in the flatbed was also injured and is in stable condition.

Police are still investigating this case.
