Update: Honduran man involved in accident in critical condition

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - A Honduran man remains in critical condition at a San Antonio hospital after he was inadvertently ran over by a Border Patrol agent.

According to reports Border Patrol agent Douglas Wayne Montgomery was driving in an unmarked Ford F-350 during the time of the accident.

The undocumented immigrant, identified as 32-year-old Edwin Giovanni Meza-Ochoa was crossing a street near the Mines Road area when he fell in front of a moving patrol vehicle.

Agent Montgomery was unable to stop in time and ended up running over Meza-Ochoa.

According to Border Patrol, Meza-Ochoa is from Honduras and was living in the United States illegally.

Laredo Police say they are conducting an investigation into the accident.

All of the evidence has been turned over to the Webb County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities are still investigating the Border Patrol accident where an agent inadvertently ran over an undocumented man in west Laredo.

The Honduran man was flown to a San Antonio hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The 34-year-old undocumented man is being treated for multiple injuries.

According to reports, the man suffered injuries to his left arm, multiple abrasions to the back and a deformity with his left rib cage.

According to police, the accident happened off of Mines Road on Caliche Road near the intersection of Highway 255.

Border Patrol says the man attempted to cross the road and accidently fell in front of a moving Border Patrol vehicle.

The agent did not have time to stop and allegedly ran over him.

The Border Patrol agent did stop to render aid and immediately contacted paramedics.

Police say they are investigating the incident and that all of the evidence will be turned over to the Webb County District Attorney’s Office.

The Laredo Police Department is investigating an auto-pedestrian accident where a Border Patrol agent allegedly ran over a man on Monday morning.

According to Border Patrol, the victim was a 34-year-old man from Honduras and living in the U.S. illegally.

Border Patrol says the incident happened at around 7 a.m. off of Mines Road near the intersection of Highway 255.

The agent says he noticed an individual run across the road and accidentally fell in front of the moving Border Patrol vehicle, which caused the agent to inadvertently run him over.

The agent immediately stopped to render aid and requested emergency medical assistance.

According to first responders, the man was rushed to a nearby hospital.
The man suffered injuries to his left arm, back and left rib cage.

Laredo Police are still investigating the accident.
