UPDATE: Highway 359 Accident Claims Three Lives

The police report detailing the final chain of events that caused a deadly accident on highway 359 has been released.

The report says witnesses to the accident saw a sheriffs patrol car slow down on the highway to make a traffic stop.

The stop caused the vehicles behind the sheriff's unit to go around including the 18-wheeler which ended up jackknifing and going into oncoming traffic, crashing into the truck that the three victims were driving in.

The eyewitnesses cited in the police report are said to be the drivers of the two vehicles behind the sheriff's unit, including the driver of the 18-wheeler.

Police say the crash team is investigating the factors that lead to the accident.

The final cause of the crash is still under investigation and to date non of the drivers have been blamed for the accident.

As part of the investigation, police say the crash team has also retrieved the dashboard camera to evaluate the footage.
