‘What’s up with the gold?’ Here’s what Obama said about Trump’s White House makeover
CLEVELAND, Ohio (Gray News) - Former President Barack Obama campaigned in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton and U.S. Senate candidate Sherrod Brown.
Obama touched on a number of subjects during the rally, including his thoughts on President Donald Trump’s time in office.
Obama said Trump is more focused on renovation projects than lowering gas prices.
“Guy’s building a ballroom that’s bigger than the White House. Paved over the Rose Garden, put a helicopter pad on the South Lawn, and, and there’s gold everywhere,” Obama said. “What’s up with the gold? Everything more gold. He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory. Just gold everywhere. So he’s clearly not focused on lowering prices for you.”
Obama said Trump’s second term has subjected Americans to two years of chaos, cruelty and corruption. He blamed Trump for rising costs and said the president has not been interested in Americans’ well-being.
Trump responded on Truth Social, writing, “Obama was a grossly incompetent President! He paid off Iran with $Billions, and gave them a road to a Nuclear Weapon.”
