Fire crews quickly extinguish blaze at Laredo Plaza Theatre

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A small fire at Laredo’s historic Plaza Theatre was quickly put out this morning, and crews have since cleared the scene.

Fire crews responded around 9 a.m. after a fire broke out at the back of the building, which is currently undergoing a major renovation.

A fire official on scene told our KGNS crew that workers were on site when a spark ignited and smoke began coming from the area. No injuries were reported.

At least three fire units responded. That block of Farragut Street was temporarily closed, but crews had cleared out and traffic was back to normal by 10 a.m.
